Words for your small business website

Do you need a website content writer?

Try answering these questions…

  1. Are you confident about showcasing your business online?
  2. Do you know exactly why your clients love what you do – and can you get that across to your audience without feeling you’re boasting?
  3. Have you got a good sense of what you need on your website to boost your professional image, get closer to your customers and help them solve their problems?
  4. Do you love blog-writing and Mailchimp and know how to use your posts and newsletters to maximum effect?
  5. Do you have the time and energy to do all the above while running your business?

If you answered ‘yes’ to all of the above, you’re good to go – you (maybe) don’t need me. If you answered ‘no’ to even one of these, I can help.

We’ll work as a team. Tell me what inspires you to do what you do. Together, we’ll inspire your customers.

What you get by hiring me as your writer

  • An initial chat, of up to 90 minutes, to find out what you need and whether I’m the right person to help.

Initial chats are free. If I don’t think you need me, I’ll tell you and explain why. If appropriate, I’ll point you in the direction of other specialists who can help.

  • A plan of action and a quote for your approval.
  • Regular progress updates, so you always know what’s coming up and when.
  • Invitations to review, amend and approve the copy I write for you.

Are you rushed off your feet? I’ll send you gentle reminders if your review comments are overdue.

  • Final copy supplied in Word format ready to upload to your website or Mailchimp newsletter or sent to your web designer for uploading.

Don’t have a web designer? I can recommend someone who’s right for you.

“Julia treats my business as if it was her own, with the same care, respect and dedication, and I truly value that. I have complete trust in mind and heart that Julia will deliver what she has agreed to with absolute excellence. I don’t even need to prompt her. It just happens. She is such a safe pair of hands.” Gillian Duncan, The Moment is Now

A guardian angel for your small business website

Creating a website is the start of a process; once it’s done, you’ll need to keep it up-to-date. Google and your clients will get bored and wander off if you don’t.

As well as overseeing the creation of your site, as your website project manager, I’ll keep it fresh as your business grows.

Not sure you need a guardian angel for your website?

Try answering these questions…

  1. Do you relish the task of updating your website content every week or month, to keep Google and your clients coming back for more?
  2. Are you super-happy using WordPress and confident about changing your website yourself?
  3. Are you the kind of person who’d love finding all the experts you need to create a brilliant new website for your business?
  4. Are you confident about writing a specification for a web designer to make sure you get exactly what you want?
  5. Are you happy keeping tabs on all the tasks needed to create or maintain a website?

If you answered ‘yes’ to all of the above, good for you! You (maybe) don’t need me. If you answered ‘no’ to any of the above – or if you simply don’t have time for these things – I can help.

What you’ll get from your website project manager

With your own website project manager (I’m not really an angel), you’ll get:

  • An initial chat, of up to 90 minutes, to find out what you need and whether I’m the right person to help.

Initial chats are free. If I don’t think you need me, I’ll tell you and explain why. If appropriate, I’ll point you in the direction of other specialists who can help you.

  • A detailed website plan and specification for your approval.
  • Quotes from suppliers arranged and reviewed and recommendations made.
  • Access to a network of tried and trusted specialists to provide you with everything you need to create a brilliant website: marketing support, logo design, website development (from the simple to the super-complex), photos and illustrations.
  • Regular progress updates, so you always know what’s coming up and when.

You won’t need to keep tabs on what your website creation team is doing. I’ll do that for you and keep you up-to-date with progress reports.

  • A review of your finished website, to make sure all the minor details have been dealt with before your super new site goes live.

“What I love most about working with you is that you’re absolutely reliable. You don’t just deliver on time and on brief, you communicate very well and keep everybody up-to-date during the project.” Denise Strohsahl, sandstonecastles marketing

What will it cost?

You can get all of the above services for £48 per hour.

So, how long does it take to write a website?

That depends how many pages you need and the message you want to get across. To give you a rough idea of costs, copy for a simple, entry-level website is likely to cost around £190 per webpage. We can work out how many pages you need during our free initial chat, as well as working out a schedule for the work.

What if you need ongoing help?

If you want regular help with blog posts, eNewsletters or website updates, buy a block of hours in advance and get a 5% discount on the hourly rate. You’ll need to buy a minimum of 10 hours.

You’ll get regular reports showing how the hours you’ve bought are being used, so you can keep track of what you’re spending your money on.

Can you get a discount?

If you’re buying a block of 10 hours or more in advance, yes. See What if you need ongoing help? above for details.
